Perugia, Umbria
Perugia is the capital of Umbria and famous for its Italian Language schools and Jazz festival held every year in July. This is a main hub for trains and buses Italy wide and therefore an easy place to reach by public transport.
Flights
Perugia airport (serviced mainly by Ryan air) is convenietly located on the outskirts of Perugia, where Ancona, Pisa, Bologna, Florence and Rome can be reached within approx 2 hours.
Local Towns
The main town, nearest the properties we feature in the website is Umbertide. This is a true Umbrian country town, with a wonderful wednesday market, many good supermarkets, a wide range of superb restaurants, a good hospital, banks, tennis courts and a swimming pool.
The village of Montone has been described as the most perfect Umbrian hill top town. There are some great restaurants here and quite often the town will be hosting an event, including dancing in the square on new years eve, Umbrian film festival and a string of summer fiestas. This a town not to be missed on a visit to this area.
Attractions of the area
The area has a rich array of historial places to visit including Assisi, Cortona, Gubbio, Orvieto and Todi all within 1 hours drive of the area.
Lake Trasimeno is a real highlight of the area, with a vast range of water sports on offer, many beaches and 3 islands to visit.
For golfers the stunning Robert Trent Jones II designed campionship golf course can be found at Antognolla Golf Estate.
