Pratto di Sotto in Bloom 

Pratto di Sotto is a charming borghetto (little village) nestled in the hills, with stunning views looking over the medieval hamlet of Santa Guiliana and surrounding mountains. 

Three of the buildings are arranged around a central courtyard, the original 18th century farmhouse, a 14th century olive mill, and the animal buildings. Narrow streets and steps lead off to the other parts of the grounds including the private cottage.

The owner, Penny, lives on site and is warm and welcoming in her hospitality. She provides guests with fresh produce from her chickens and vegetable gardens and is on call to assist with all her guests needs, including catering and walking tours.

The houses have all been elegantly designed, using antique furniture, reclaimed tiles, oak beams, stone fireplaces and doors.

The gardens are a marvelous mix of English country house and Italian Style,with roses everywhere.

At the top of the property is a 15 metre infinity swimming pool with ample room to relax on loungers and enjoy the fantastic views. 

 

 

Casa Antica (sleeps 8)

Casa Antica is on two floors in the main 18th century farmhouse with 4 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a large farmhouse kitchen/dining room, spacious lounge and a lovely outside courtyard terrace with dining table and plenty of room to sit in deckchairs in the sun or under the shade of a splendid fig tree.

Casa Antica is furnished with antiques, kilim rugs and comfortable beds. The upstairs lounge has a private terrace with views over the valley to the hills beyond, and has a satellite TV, DVD player and stereo. The kitchen is fully equipped for the most demanding cook and includes a dishwasher and Smeg appliances.

 

La Capanna (sleeps 2)

La Capanna is a romantic detached cottage for 2, offering luxurious accommodation on two floors, and a wonderful terrace overlooking the ancient hamlet of Santa Giuliana.

The cottage is located away from all the other buildings, just above the pool. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. On the upper floor, to make the most of the views, there is a spacious living room and fully equipped galley kitchen/dining area. There are terracotta floors throughout with kilims and antique furniture. On the terrace, there is a barbeque, dining table and deckchairs to relax in.

 

La Terrazza (sleeps 4)

La Terrazza is a spacious two bedroom apartment on the ground floor of the farmhouse, with a private entrance from a covered terrace that runs 40ft along the width of the house.

The open plan living room has a well equipped kitchen area with dishwasher and Smeg oven. There is a large dining table and a very spacious lounge with antique furniture and all the home comforts, including satellite TV, DVD player and stereo. The large double bedroom has French doors to the garden and the second bedroom, with twin beds, also has doors to the garden. The bathroom has a bath with shower over. The outside terrace is ideal for dining as well as lazing in the deckchairs. Beyond the terrace is a grassed area to the edge of the property.

 

Il Molino (sleeps 2)

Il Molino is a charming studio with an open plan living/sleeping area and a separate bathroom. Situated on the top floor of the 14th century olive mill, there is also a large covered terrace overlooking the central courtyard.

The double bed can be separated from the rest of the living area by an attractive wooden screen. There is small but well equipped kitchen corner with an oven, hob and fridge. The bathroom has a bath with shower over and a bidet. There is satellite TV and stereo and a wood burning stove for the cooler months. The terrace is a lovely spot to eat al fresco or just relax in the deck chairs provided.
